• Anyone 19 or older may apply for a marriage licence.
  • Anyone under 19 must have the consent of both parents.
  • If either person was recently divorced, the divorce must be finalized before a licence can be issued. Proof of the finalized divorce is required.
  • Blood tests are not required in British Columbia.
  • Only one person from the couple needs to apply in person.
  • The current marriage licence fee is $100 and is payable when applying.
  • Identification is required for both applicants, normally showing their full legal name, date of birth and place of birth.
  • Information about current marital status and address is also required.
  • A marriage licence is issued immediately, is non-refundable, and cannot be extended beyond three months.
  • If the licence is lost, a replacement can be obtained from the original issuer.
